Professional Carpet Installation Adelaide | Bargain Carpets

Bargain Carpets has installed carpet across every Adelaide suburb for over twenty years. From the bluestone and stone-fronted heritage homes of North Adelaide, Norwood, Hyde Park, and Goodwood to the post-war brick veneers across Modbury, Ingle Farm, and Salisbury, the southern beach houses of Glenelg, Brighton, Hallett Cove, and Aldinga, and the foothills homes of Blackwood, Aberfoyle Park, and Stirling — our installers know what each Adelaide era and each suburb needs.

Adelaide residential construction is dominated by concrete slab-on-ground — a legacy of the post-war building boom across the northern plains and the southern suburbs. That changes how carpet is installed compared to many other Australian cities: there's almost no need for sub-floor squeak repair, but slab moisture testing matters, particularly in lower-lying suburbs and in homes built before modern damp-proof membranes were standard. Our experienced local installation team operates from our Para Hills warehouse at 8/1445 Main North Road, Para Hills SA 5096, central to the Salisbury – Tea Tree Gully – Modbury corridor, and we cover the full metro from Elizabeth in the north to Aldinga and Sellicks in the south, plus the foothills and the Adelaide Hills.

Why Adelaide Carpet Installation Needs Local Subfloor Expertise

Adelaide housing runs from 1860s Mitcham bluestone cottages and inner-east stone-fronted villas to 2020s Seaford Heights slabs, and the wrong installer turns either era into a $5,000 mistake. A $5,000 carpet poorly installed will look worse — and wear faster — than a $3,000 carpet professionally fitted. Bargain Carpets has installed across every Adelaide suburb since 2003 — from reactive clay slabs in Salisbury and Para Hills, to coastal humidity at Henley Beach and Glenelg, to Adelaide Hills sandstone at Stirling and Aldgate — and we read the subfloor before we quote the carpet.

Frequently Asked Questions — Carpet Installation Adelaide

How much does carpet installation cost in Adelaide?

Carpet starts from $45/m² fully installed on Dunlop dual underlay across Adelaide. That includes the carpet, underlay, gripper, seam tape, professional installation, old carpet removal, and clean-up. Hybrid flooring starts from $37.94/m² and laminate from $33/m². All prices GST inclusive — no callout fee anywhere across the Adelaide metro.

Can you install carpet over a concrete slab in Adelaide?

Yes — concrete slab-on-ground is the most common Adelaide subfloor and we install carpet over slab every day. We moisture-test the slab before laying, add a moisture barrier where readings are elevated (more common in lower-lying suburbs and pre-1980s homes built before modern damp-proof membranes were standard), then fit dual underlay, tackless gripper around the perimeter, and stretch the carpet over. Done correctly, carpet over slab feels just as soft underfoot as carpet over a timber subfloor.

Do you service the Adelaide Hills, the southern beaches, and the northern plains?

Yes — we cover the full Adelaide metropolitan area from our Para Hills warehouse. That includes the northern suburbs (Elizabeth, Salisbury, Mawson Lakes, Modbury, Tea Tree Gully), inner suburbs (North Adelaide, Norwood, Burnside, Goodwood, Unley), the southern beaches (Glenelg, Brighton, Hallett Cove, Christies Beach, Noarlunga, Aldinga), and the Adelaide Hills foothills (Blackwood, Aberfoyle Park, Stirling, Aldgate). No callout fee anywhere in the metro.

Will you remove the old carpet and dispose of it?

Yes — old carpet and underlay removal and disposal is included in every Adelaide installation quote at no extra charge. We bag and remove everything on the day, leaving the room ready for furniture. No skip bin required from you. For larger full-house re-carpets we coordinate disposal logistics in advance so the day runs to schedule.

What's your warranty on carpet installation in Adelaide?

Our installation team backs every Adelaide installation. We rectify any installation issue — loose seams, ripples requiring re-stretching, gripper or underlay problems — at no charge. Manufacturer warranties on the carpet itself (typically 7–25 years depending on range) remain in force because we install to the manufacturer's specification: power-stretched, correct underlay weight, heat-bond seams, and properly sized gripper.

Do I need to move my furniture before the installers arrive?

No — moving heavy furniture is included in your installation quote. We move beds, wardrobes, lounges, dining tables, and bookshelves by prior arrangement on the day. We ask that you clear personal items, breakables, and anything inside furniture (clothing in wardrobes, items on shelves) before we arrive. We don't move pianos, pool tables, or large appliances connected to plumbing or gas — those need a specialist.

Can you install carpet over underfloor heating in Adelaide homes?

Yes — but the carpet and underlay system needs to be specified for it. The combined thermal resistance (R-value) of the carpet plus underlay should generally stay at or below 2.5 tog so the heat can transfer through efficiently and warranty conditions are met. We use a thinner, denser underlay over heated slabs (typically a 6mm felt or low-tog rubber crumb), avoid heavy wool twists with thick foam underlay, and turn the heating off and let the slab cool to ambient for at least 48 hours before install. Bring the heating manufacturer's spec sheet to your free measure.

Will reactive clay soils in Adelaide affect my carpet installation?

Reactive clay subsoils — common across the Adelaide plains and parts of the foothills — cause slabs to move with seasonal moisture changes and can open hairline cracks at slab joints over time. This rarely affects carpet directly because the underlay and carpet bridge minor cracks. Where a slab has cupped or settled significantly we may recommend a self-levelling compound before laying so the finished carpet sits flat. We assess the slab condition at your free in-home measure and flag anything that needs rectification before quoting.

What payment options do you offer in Adelaide?

We accept bank transfer, EFTPOS, and credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Amex) at our Para Hills warehouse and at the time of installation. A deposit is taken to order your carpet and the balance is settled on completion of the install. For larger jobs and builder accounts we offer 7- or 14-day invoice terms by prior arrangement. We don't currently offer in-house finance, but Afterpay or Zip is available on request for installations under $2,000.
